Whether you live/work in Cuero, are visiting, or are just passing through, you’ll notice something new on Highways 183 and 87 and in the Historic Downtown area this week — some fancy wayfinding signs featuring Ruby Begonia and her turkey tracks, and declaring Cuero, Texas as the “Turkey Capital of the World!”
This project has been many years in the making and it finally became a realization on Tuesday, July 27th with the placement of 12 of a total of 16 signs around our city to point the way to special locations and attractions.
The Wayfinding Signs Committee includes our Mayor Sara Post Meyer, Cuero Main Street Director Sandra Osman, City Secretary Jennifer Zufelt, and Cuero Chamber Director Angie Cuellar. Design of the signs was by ShaNon Henson of Exhibix, Inc. and construction and placement was by National Sign Plazas of Austin. Funding was provided by the City of Cuero, the Cuero Development Corporation, and the Cuero Chamber of Commerce.
We are all extremely proud of the finished product and we know these signs will be a wonderful convenience and benefit to Cuero citizens and visitors!
