Downtown Store "A Special Stitch" uses Small Business Loan Program to purchase new equipment
Owners Sara Gossett and Suzy Adams love their shop in Historic Downtown
Cuero. What started out as monogramming for their business, South Texas
Gymnastics in Cuero, it quickly grew too big to fit in the pro shop. Originally
planning to open only for the holiday season they quickly realized there was a
market in Cuero for their custom monogramming, jewelry, apparel, and gifts all
year round. In 2003, A Special Stitch opened downtown and has seen success
ever since. One small move was made to give them more space and they are
filled to the brim at 108 E. Main. They currently are open Monday - Friday 9
am - 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am - 2 pm.
Recently they took advantage of the CDC Small Business Loan Program to
purchase a new monogramming machine. Sara and Suzy said that the three percent
interest rate was the determining factor for applying for funding. The
paperwork and process is almost identical to what businesses can expect from a bank. They recommend the program to any business looking for small financing.
The CDC Small Business Loan Program is administered by Business and Community
Lenders of Texas (BCL) located in Austin. Applications may be picked up at the
CDC office and once complete are sent to BCL for approval. Any questions
regarding the program and the qualifications can be directed to CDC Executive
Director Shelley South Pennell.
