VOL. 7, NO. 1 • CUERO DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION MONTHLY NEWSLETTER • NOVEMBER 2006

Volunteering can be a meaningful and rewarding experience. It opens up the doors for many opportunities. A volunteer is a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking (www.dictionary.reference.com). However, it is much more than that. When you commit to volunteer you offer your time, energy, skills, and experience. This contribution can give you an amazing sense of self-fulfillment and satisfaction and the knowledge that you have made a difference. Volunteering is a great way to say thank you to your community and follow in the footsteps of volunteers who have come before you.

Rewards to volunteering include:

  • expanding your social circle
  • knowledge through service
  • better health
  • discovery of strengths and talents
  • self-confidence
  • a sense of independence

Skills developed in volunteering can be applied in the work force. Also, it can create a network to help find employment. You get as much out of volunteering as you put into it and you would be surprised how much fun it can be!

Most civic organizations rely 100% on volunteers. Without people like you they cannot function. They need your help! Are you ready to volunteer and get involved? There are too many volunteer opportunities in Cuero to list them. A good place to start is the local newspaper or ask friends, family and co-workers. If you are still not sure where to start give us a call at 361-275-8178.
