APRIL COMPUTER CLASS SCHEDULE
E-MAIL - April 7 - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Send, receive, forward, redirect, and reply to e-mail using
Outlook Express. Learn to use the Address book to add contacts
and groups, send and receive attachments, block messages and spam,
and organize messages. Learn to use Yahoo e-mail.
ODDS AND ENDS - April 9 - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Learn about how to send and receive pictures via e-mail, post pictures
to web viewers to share, and burn to CD. Discover how to download
pictures from a camera or the web to changes your desktop appearance.
Learn how to send E-cards and E-postcards. Check out fun Web sites,
learn shortcuts, and pitfalls.
ADVANCED WORD - April 11 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. / April 20 and 21 - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Improve your skills using Word (keyboarding skill of 15 wpm or more is
recommended and a basic knowledge of Word). Review creating documents,
editing and formatting text, paragraph formatting, bullets, numbering,
printing, format pages, and tools. You will learn how to link to other
programs, create templates insert symbols, use Auto Correct, auto text,
mail merge, tabs, columns, tables, comments, headers and footers, password
protection, and keyboard shortcuts. You will receive a Certificate of
Competency upon successful completion of all projects in the class.
EXCEL ELEMENTS I (Moving through Excel) - April 26 - 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Gain confidence navigating an Excel worksheet. Learn to enter, edit,
and delete data, use help, spell check, Auto fill, Auto complete, Auto
calculate, and Auto Sum. Learn keyboard shortcuts and to manipulate
columns and rows.
EXCEL ELEMENTS II (Formatting) - April 26 - 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Review moving around in Excel worksheets, enter, edit, and delete
data, use help, spell check, Auto fill, Auto complete and Auto calculate.
Learn worksheet formatting to present your data. Produce charts.
INTERNET NUTS AND BOLTS - April 18 - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Surf the Web with confidence using Internet Explorer. Navigate the WWW and
use search engines efficiently, adding and organizing favorites. Practice
safe surfing - security settings (virus protection, firewall, pop-ups),
save, print, download from the Internet. Shortcuts and tips.
INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS - April 19 - 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
An Introduction to the PC, begins at the very beginning. Covering:
Turning on a computer, Turning off a computer (it's not the same
button!), The screen - What are all those little pictures?, Practice
with a mouse, Windows-the computer kind, Opening and closing a file,
Saving a file, Finding a saved file back again! And General things
you can do on a computer.
INTRODUCTION TO PUBLISHER - April 14 - 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Learn what Microsoft Publisher will help you do. Learn basic desktop
publishing - working with frames, clip art, photos, printing. Use
templates and wizards to make brochures, flyers, greeting cards,
invitations, business cards, tent cards and more.
PC MAINTENANCE & SECURITY - April 27 - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Practice safe computing using Windows XP built-in security features.
Learn to protect yourself against threats like viruses, worms, hijacking,
phishing, spyware, malware, and Trojan horses. Maintain your computer,
monitor, mouse and drives in top working condition.
