I10 Corridor Association Annual Meeting

The I10 Corridor Association elected Cuero’s Shelley South Pennell as the new president for the 2008–2009 year at the Annual Meeting in La Grange, Texas. The 43 member organization consists of chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, and businesses. The vision statement of the group is to connect rural communities through the enhancement of tourism and economic development along the I10 Corridor.

“I have been involved in the organization for two years and look forward to continuing the hard work to enhance tourism and economic development for our membership,” Shelley South Pennell stated.

The guest speaker Senator Glen Hegar gave a moving speech at the Annual Meeting. The Senator encouraged members to play on the strengths of their individual community and to maintain contact with his office and let him know how he can be of assistance.

Lackland Air Force Base Vacation Show

Kay Lapp, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and Shelley South Pennell, Cuero Development Corporation Executive Director attended a vacation travel show at Lackland Air Force Base on Friday, April 18.

Civilian and military personnel indicated an interest in day trips to cut the cost of travel expenses such as hotels, air fare, etc... Cuero is an ideal day trip located 90 miles southeast of San Antonio. Many visitors that stopped by Cuero’s booth were interested in finding out more and looked forward to this year’s events.

The Cuero Development Corporation grants the CBAT (Cuero Baseball Association for Teenagers) $2270.69 to help with a major lighting project for the baseball field at the Municipal Park in Cuero.
