Annemarie Leslie Mees

Annemarie Leslie Mees has lived in Cuero most of her life. She was born in Houston, Texas; however, you could say that her roots have always been in Cuero. Her grandfather was the noted physician and surgeon, Dr. A. J. Bohman. After his death in 1983, her mother and father moved their family back to Cuero to be with her grandmother, Bernice Bohman.

Her educational career began at Grace Episcopal PreSchool. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School until sixth grade after which she entered Cuero Junior High. In Cuero High School she enjoyed sports, art, and academics. After high school, she matriculated at The University of Texas in Austin entering the Business School. She found her way back to Cuero to raise her family and enjoy being an active member of the Cuero community. Her oldest son is a sophomore honor student attending The University of Texas San Antonio. Her daughter is in the honors program at Cuero Junior High, and her youngest son attends St. Michael’s School as a second grader.

Her passions include art, design, sports, and being involved with, not only her children, but also, the young children of our community. As Unit Director of the Boys and Girls Club of DeWitt County, she is able to realize these endeavors. She has also recently taken on the responsibility of teaching art classes at St. Michael’s School.

As a young woman in tune with the modern world, she loves new challenges. She is looking forward to this next business adventure she is embarking on as a new entrepreneur. Her cousin, Riki Rushing, and her husband, Allen Gilmer, and she are creating a new concept store on Broadway Street. It is going to be innovative and economically conscious with an electric vehicle charging station, a gelato shop, tap room, and commercial kitchen. The business will market and sell local artisanal goods, gelato/ice cream, unique food items, non-perishable items, beer and wine, all in a welcoming ambience and entertaining atmosphere. When you frequent their establishment, you will be able to recharge your car outside, while recharging your mind, body, and soul inside.

Annemarie Leslie Mees and John Mitchell will be the guest speakers for the Friday, September 9th 2022 Community Leaders’ Meeting to be held at the City of Cuero Council Chambers at 7:30AM.
